BETSY SMALL

earned a BFA in Creative Writing from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1970. She has written book, music and lyrics for a young people’s musical entitled Crystal’s Journey, which was performed at Adventure Theatre in Glen Echo Maryland. She recently toured the West Coast with her husband, pianist Haskell Small, doing readings of mystical poetry integrated with his original composition, Journey in Silence. Small is also a certified yoga teacher, as well as a musician who has played and taught Renaissance lute in the Washington DC area since 1975, directing and performing music with The Washington Camerata (1978-1995) and The Story Minstrels (1990-2005), for which she created children’s educational shows based on folk tales.
