Poems of Awakening:
AN INTERNATIONAL ANTHOLOGY OF SPIRITUAL POETRY,
edited by Betsy Small, is a gathering of verse which nourishes and awakens one to the joyfulness of the present moment and the sense of being part of what Walt Whitman calls a “vast similitude” which “interlocks all”. You don’t have to be a poetry lover, a yogi, or a meditation practitioner to appreciate these timeless and deeply felt poems, which invite readers of all generations and cultures to contemplate their own spiritual journey, or simply to savor the beauty of the moment.“What a joy it is to find so many beautiful, moving,
edifying poems in one place!”
— Al Zolynas, poet and editor, The Poetry of Men’s Lives
THE GREAT SEA
The great sea
frees me, moves me,
as a strong river carries a weed.
Earth and her strong winds
move me, take me away,
and my soul is swept up in joy.
